 Profile

Ellyse Perry became the youngest Australian ever to play cricket when she made her debut in the second ODI of the Rose Bowl series at Darwin this July. Perry is considered a genuine all-round prospect and toured New Zealand with the Australian under-23 team early in 2007. Australia have been looking for a replacement for fast bowler Cathryn Fitzpatrick, who retired in March 2007, and if reports are to be believed Perry is the future of Australian fast bowling. But that may not happen if she chooses a long-term career soccer instead. Perry will be playing international soccer soon after the Top End Series when she travels to Hong Kong to play with the Matildas. At the moment Perry, who has been signed up by the New South Wales Breakers, feels she can juggle both games.
