Mike 'Pasty' Harris was a right-hand opener, an occasional legspinner and a wicketkeeper who started ay Middlesex but found real success when he moved to Nottinghamshire in 1969 after five seasons. He passed 1000 runs 11 times, with his best season in 1971 when he scored 2238 runs at 50.86. He played for Eastern Province in 1971-72 and Wellington in 1975-76 and also toured the Caribbean with the DH Robbins XI in 1974-75. He subsequently became a first-class umpire. Martin Williamson
