A right-arm seamer, Tissara Perera has opened the bowling for the U-19s and turned in noteworthy performances in the tri-nation tournament in Sri Lanka in July 2007 and in the youth Test against India in Colombo the following month. Those performances earned him a call-up to the U-19 squad for the World Cup in Malaysia in 2008. His ambition is to be a professional cricketer and he would like to remain associated with the game by taking up coaching. Cricinfo Staff February 2008
