Profile
Thorp spent time at the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy in 2003, honing his skills as a fast-medium bowler. He had already played for a Western Australia side against an England XI on their 2002-03 tour there, taking 4 for 58. After two fruitful seasons with WA, he signed a two-year contract with Durham, but not as an overseas player - both his parents are British. He provided valuable options for the team as they covered for the absence of Steve Harmison and later Liam Plunkett with England.
