 Profile

A useful all round player, who bowls at a lively pace, swinging the ball either way, and is able to strike the ball powerfully. He took the new ball during the Under-19 World Cup and hit 91 against Sri Lanka in the Super League play-off. However, he is another player who is being forced to rise rapidly through the ranks because of Zimbabwe's shortage of options. He attended St John's College in Harare, but achieved more success in club cricket for Harare Sports Club, under the experienced eye of Robin Brown, than he did in schools cricket. He struggled in the West Indies, which was hardly surprising given his lack of experience, and remains a fringe player at present. He is a sound batsman who improvises well and thus shows good all-round potential. A very good hockey player, he has an excellent eye for the ball.
John Ward June 2006
