India v Pakistan, 4th ODI, Gwalior

Ganguly completes a treble, and Zaheer gets 200

Stats highlights from the fourth ODI between India and Pakistan in Gwalior:

  • With the win in Gwalior, India clinched a home ODI series win against Pakistan after a gap of 24 years. India's last series win against their traditional rivals came in the 1983-84 season, when the home team - under Kapil Dev - won a two-match series 2-0. Pakistan, though, still have the favourable record in India, having won 16 of the 25 encounters in India between the two teams.

  • The wicket of Shahid Afridi was Sourav Ganguly's 100th in ODIs. Ganguly has 100 wickets from 311 ODIs, at an average of 38.49. Ganguly becomes the third player, after Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya, to complete the treble of 10,000 runs, 100 wickets and 100 catches in ODIs.

  • Zaheer Khan became the fifth Indian and fifth left-arm bowler to take 200 wickets in ODIs when he bowled Shoaib Malik. Zaheer reached the milestone in his 144th ODI and now has 201 wickets, at 29.40 apiece. Zaheer, however, fares poorly against Pakistan, with 24 wickets from 21 matches, averaging over 40.

  • Mohammad Yousuf finished the Pakistan innings unbeaten on 99, the first Pakistani and eighth batsman overall to be not out on that score.

  • Sachin Tendulkar's inability to reach hundred No. 42 continued, falling three short when he was bowled by Umar Gul. Gul had also dismissed Tendulkar for 99 in the second ODI in Mohali. This is the sixth time that Tendulkar has been out in the nineties this year. Tendulkar's last hundred while chasing came against Pakistan in Rawalpindi in 2004, a match that India lost.

  • Tendulkar now has 2351 runs in 65 ODIs against Pakistan, averaging just below 40. He needs 53 runs to overtake Inzamam-ul-Haq as the leading run-scorer in India-Pakistan ODIs. Inzamam took 67 matches for his 2403 runs, at an average of 43.69.

  • Pakistan might have had an inkling of hope when India were at 159 for 4 after Tendulkar's dismissal. However, it brought together Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the crease. The duo effortlessly steered India to victory with an unbroken 101-run stand, their fifth century stand against Pakistan - and all have resulted in wins. The two have amassed 600 runs in just eight innings against Pakistan, at an average of 120 per dismissal.

  • Salman Butt was dismissed for 0 on the second delivery of the match, the third time he's fallen for a second-ball duck against India. In all, he has five second-ball ducks.
