Karnataka continued their impressive performance in the South Zone Ranji Trophy one-dayers with a comfortable five-wicket win over Tamil Nadu in Hyderabad. Choosing to field first, Karnataka did a fine job to restrict their opponents to 194. Vasudevdas, the middle-order batsman, provided the lone resistance with a gritty 76. Karnataka then hunted down the target in 44 overs with C Raghu turning in the matchwinning innings - a patient 64 off 115 deliveries.

Andhra 232 (Sai 62) beat Hyderabad 141 by 91 runs
Scorecard

A fighting 62 from wicketkeeper Manoj Sai was followed by a fine performance from the bowlers as Andhra ran away to a comprehensive 92-run win over hosts Hyderabad at Uppal. Being asked to bat first on losing the toss, Andhra turned in a solid batting performance to raise 232 before their bowlers routed a strong Hyderabad line-up. Ambati Rayudu's 40 was the only consolation on a day when none of the others crossed 20. D Kalyankrishna was the most effective bowler for Andhra, ending with 3 for 17 in six overs.

Kerala 215 for 4 beat Goa 211 (Swapnil 74) by 6 wickets
Scorecard

Kerala wrapped up a comfortable six-wicket win over Goa in a one-sided contest at Secunderabad. Kerala's bowlers vindicated their captain's decision to field first, picking up wickets at regular intervals and keeping Goa down to 211. A solid batting performance, led by VA Jagadeesh and PV Manikandan, enabled them to coast past the finish line.

Both matches in the East Zone leg of the tournament - Bengal v Assam and Orissa v Tripura - were hampered by rains in Cuttack.

Rains have also affected the start of the Central Zone leg of the tournament in Kanpur. Like the authorities in North Zone, the Central Zone administrators have decided to start the tournament afresh from February 18. The venue will be shifted from Kanpur to Indore.
