Vidyut and Vijay power TN to easy win

The following are the summary of results from the fifth day of the Ranji Trophy one-day tournament
South Zone
M Vijay's second century in two games, along with S Vidyut's hundred allowed Tamil Nadu to chase Andhra's 292 with more than seven overs to spare at the Guru Nanak College Ground in Chennai. Half-centuries from Hemal Watekar, ASK Varma and AG Pradeep took Andhra to their reasonably competitive total. But Vijay and Vidyut's 184-run partnership, chasing at nearly seven an over, took the game away from Andhra.
Ravi Teja and Mohammad Shakeer shared seven wickets between them to bowl out Goa for 222 and secure a 62-run win for Hyderabad at the Central Polytechnic India Pistons Ground in Chennai. Anoop Pai scored his maiden List A century and added 110 with Arjun Yadav (54) to take Hyderabad to 284. Goa's openers gave their side an 85-run start but then Shakeer, a legspinner, dealt a triple-blow and picked up three wickets for 13 runs. Ajay Ratra, who got a century in Goa's previous game against Karnataka, scored a fifty, but it was to be in a losing cause yet again.
Kerala collapsed to a 132-run loss against Karnataka at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College Ground in Chennai. KP Appanna bowled an incredible spell of 3-0-8-4 as Kerala lost their last seven wickets for 15 runs. Opener CM Gautam scored his first List A half-century but no other Karnataka batsman scored more than 42 as Prasanth Parmeswaran, a right-arm medium bowler, playing only his second match, took 6 for 35 to bowl them out for 247.
East Zone
Ranadeb Bose took 4 for 54 as Bengal restricted Tripura to 167 and then chased the target in 33 overs to gain a bonus point at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati. Tripura lost their first three wickets with only five on the scoreboard and even a brief revival led by Rajib Datta and Timir Chanda's 68-run partnership wasn't going to be enough for them to post a defendable total. The Bengal openers, Anustup Majumdar and Arindam Das, helped themselves to half-centuries and when Arindam Das was caught for 75, Bengal needed only a run to finish things off. Debabrata Das wrapped it up with a six.
Jharkhand scored a 96-run win over Orissa by bowling them out for 165 at the North-East Frontier Railway Stadium in Guwahati. Sunny Gupta and Shahid Khan took five wickets between them as no Orissa batsman scored more than 35. Earlier, Subroto Ghosh and Ishank Jaggi added 139 together to boost Jharkhand's total. Left-arm spinner Paresh Patel got his first five-wicket haul but without any support from the Orissa batsmen, his efforts went in vain.
North Zone
Parvinder Awana took a career-best 4 for 30 as Delhi beat Himachal Pradesh by eight wickets at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. Himachal managed to reach only 160 on the back of Mukesh Sharma's patient and unbeaten 84 as the rest of the batting line-up proceeded to disintegrate. Delhi, who had chased Punjab's 274 without losing a wicket, needed only 35.3 overs to secure a win along with a bonus point.
Amit Mishra and Amaradeep Sonkar took three wickets each to bowl out Services for 196 and hand Haryana a 36-run win at the Palam A Ground in Delhi. Sonkar also starred with the bat, scoring 73 and adding 61 with Sachin Rana (48). For Services opener Tahir Khan battled for a 128-ball 75 but received little support from his team-mates in chasing the modest target. Soomik Chatarjee chipped in with 45 and added 82 with Tahir but it wasn't enough as the last six Services wickets fell for 24 runs.
Samiullah Beigh's half-century and efforts to rally the lower order while chasing 260 against Punjab were not enough to secure a win for Jammu & Kashmir at the Harbax Singh Stadium in Delhi. Pankaj Dharmani, Uday Kaul and Mayank Sidhana scored half-centuries for Punjab after which Manpreet Gony and VRV Singh removed the top order cheaply. Beigh's resistance and 58-run partnership with Raman Dutta only prolonged J&K's innings, with the target far out their reach.
Central Zone
In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh put Madhya Pradesh in and restricted them to 208, but then failed to chase that score; the 27-run win helped MP move to the top of the points table.
Opener Naman Ojha fell cheaply, but MP consolidated with a 69-run second-wicket stand between Himalaya Sagar and Jatin Saxena. However, they lost wickets at regular intervals from then on and were dismissed for 208 in 49.3 overs. SS Sengar took 4 for 42, while RP Singh, who missed the CB Series after suffering a hamstring injury, picked up two wickets for 32 from his ten overs.
UP never looked in command during their chase, with two wickets - including that of captain Mohammad Kaif - falling in the first ten overs with only 22 runs on the board. They slid to 87 for 6, and despite some resistance from the lower order, they were bundled out for 181. All of MP's bowlers chipped in with wickets, Rajesh Kanojia scalped three, while three others chipped in with two apiece.
Vidharbha completed an easy six-wicket win over Rajasthan at the Kamla Club Sports Ground in Kanpur. Rajasthan managed to scored 201, but that was only after fifties from Nikhil Doru and Sumit Khatri rescued them from a precarious 61 for 5. Vidharbha's new-ball bowlers - Sandeep Singh and Mohammad Hashim - took three wickets each.
A 108-run second-wicket partnership between Faiz Fazal (69) and Alind Naidu (59) set up the platform for a comfortable chase.
