Aylestone Road was home to Leicestershire CCC between 1901, when a decision was made that Grace Road was too far from town, and 1945, when they were unable to return to the ground after the war. The venue had been damaged and was partially used for industrial development. Nevertheless, Leicestershire did play two Championship matches there in 1957 and a university game in 1962.
