 Profile

A lack of opportunities firstly at Surrey, where he made just one appearance in the strong Championship-winning side of 2002, and secondly at Kent, forced Michael Carberry, a talented left-handed opening batsman, to move to Hampshire. By 2007 he finally seemed to have settled into his South coast home, scoring a thousand runs in the championship, a performance that earned him a call-up to the England Lions tour of India in early 2008.
Will Luke February 2008
