Mullally and Hartley in 14 for NUNCL floodlit match at The Oval.

Vic Isaacs

May 26, 2000

Hampshire are keeping their options open for the Norwich Union National League floodlit match at the Oval on Tuesday 30th May (4.10pm start) against Surrey.

Fourteen players are travelling, with practice under the lights from 9.00pm on Monday. Particular attention will be paid to two of Hampshire's injury problems. Alan Mullally will be trying out and is expected to play after responding well to treatment, despite reports in the National papers to the contrary. Peter Hartley who had a combination of calf and cramp problems, that forced him to leave the field in the Championship match against Lancashire at Southampton, is also hoping to be fit.

Alex Morris is still suffering from shin splints, a similar injury that kept him out of most of last season, is expected to be out for 2/3 weeks.

Hampshire after a more encouraging match, albeit rain effected, against Lancashire, will be looking to get their National League campaign going, after 3 defeats.

The Hampshire 14 are: Jason Laney, Derek Kenway, Adi Aymes (w/k), Robin Smith (captain), Giles White, John Stephenson, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Shaun Udal, Alan Mullally, Shane Warne, Simon Francis, Peter Hartley, Will Kendall, Simon Renshaw.
