Davendra Bishoo, the Guyana legspinner, made a fine start to his first-class career with a five-wicket haul as his side maintained a firm grip on their fifth-round game against Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) at the Providence Stadium in Georgetown.

Bishoo, 22, snared 5 for 29 off 18 overs in a commanding performance that wrecked the CCC's first innings for 151, forcing them to follow-on. Having conceded a 270-run lead, CCC reached 96 for 2 in their second innings at the close of the third day. Nekoli Parris and the experienced Floyd Reifer were unbeaten at stumps after Bishoo got stuck in again, snapping up both the wickets to fall in the second innings.

Bishoo, who represented Guyana at the Under-19 level in 2003 and 2004, got to play this game owing to the finger injury to left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul. He removed Simon Jackson early before returning to clean up the lower order. Guyana, like they have done all season, didn't allow the opposition tail to wag and picked up their first points in the competition.

Jamaica 257 and 133 for 4 need 68 more runs to beat Barbados 167 and 290 (Holder 55, Gayle 4-86, Miller 4-86)
Scorecard

An unbroken, 67-run stand for the fifth wicket between Brendan Nash and Tamar Lambert on track in their match against Barbados in Bridgetown. Chasing 201 for victory, Jamaica were 133 for 4 four at stumps on the third day.

It was a good recovery after they had slumped to 66 for 4 in the first half an hour after tea. Jamaica were rocked by left-arm seamer Pedro ollins, who picked up 3 for 24 in 13 overs. Chris Gayle was caught at mid-off by Fidel Edwards before Xavier Marshall was caught at the wicket for 2. Brendon Parchment and Danza Hyatt fell after tea as Jamaica appeared to slip into a dangerous position.

However, Lambert and Nash settled the nerves with a composed partnership. Nash, the left-hander, ground out a dogged 35 while Lambert accumulated 26 in similar fashion.

Earlier Alcindo Holder's patient 55 gave Barbados a chance to stay in the contest. He put together a vital 46-run stand with Sulieman Benn and pushed past the 150-mark. The Jamaican spin duo of Nikita Miller and Gayle, though, cleaned up the tail to leave the visitors with 201 for victory. Both finished with identical figures (4 for 86) and helped Jamaica harbour hopes of staying at the top of the table.

Trinidad & Tobago 268 and 9 for 0 need another 176 runs to beat Windward Islands 294 and 158 (Jaggernauth 7-60)
Scorecard

The spin duo of Amit Jaggernauth and Dave Mohammad destroyed the Windward Islands, putting Trinidad and Tobago on course to a memorable win in the fifth round of the Carib Beer Series in Roseau.

Offspinner Jaggernauth and left-arm spinner Mohammad combined for all 10 wickets as T&T wrecked the Windwards for a paltry 158. Jaggernauth, 24, ended with 7 for 60, his best first-class figures, while Mohammad complemented him with 3 for 28 in his 19.2 overs. He ended with 12 wickets for the match.
